Armed Robbery Gang Strikes in Ogun State, Escaping with Stolen Dollars

In a daring daylight robbery, a four-man armed gang targeted the Oke-Sokori area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. The incident occurred on Friday when the criminals intercepted a Northern trader driving a Toyota Venza, with the license plate ABC 565 GN. The gang, brandishing rifles and concealing their identities with masks, swiftly executed their operation in a mere three minutes, leaving the victims and witnesses in shock.

The main target of the robbery was two 'Ghana-Must-Go' bags believed to be filled with dollar notes. The thieves forcibly opened the car's trunk, seized the bags containing the foreign currency, and snatched the victim's car key before making a quick getaway.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident unfolded around 3:45 pm, right in front of Fatgbems filling station at Oke-Sokori. The victim had earlier attempted to deposit the money at a commercial bank, but he was turned away as the bank had already closed for the day. This unfortunate turn of events seemingly caught the attention of the robbers.

Authorities were promptly notified, and the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, assured the public that the police were diligently working to apprehend the culprits. The police command wasted no time in issuing alerts across the state, increasing the chances of tracking down the armed robbers swiftly.

Despite the audacity displayed by the criminals, the police remain resolute in their efforts to bring them to justice and recover the stolen funds. The incident serves as a reminder for the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.

As the investigation continues, the hope is that the law enforcement agencies will succeed in apprehending the armed gang and recovering the stolen money, bringing relief to the victims and restoring a sense of security to the community.
