Nigerian Skit Maker Trinity Guy Released on Bail Amidst Sexual Exploitation Allegations



Nigerian skit maker Trinity Guy, popularly known as Trinity, has been released on bail after being remanded in the Agodi correction center in Ibadan. The remand followed allegations of sexually exploiting a 10-year-old girl in the Kuolaa area on December 17, 2022. Alongside Trinity Guy, the parents of the victim, 31-year-old Maruf Abdullahi, 40-year-old Isiaka Ahmed, and his wife, 29-year-old Rofiat Ahmed, were also ordered to be remanded in Agodi.


The news of Trinity's release was shared by fellow skit maker Cute Abiola on his Facebook page on the night of July 21, 2023. The court had granted Trinity bail after he met the required conditions.


The case, initially heard in the Family Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has been adjourned until August 3, 2023, for mention. The charges brought by the police include conspiracy and sexual abuse/exploitation against Abdullahi and the parents of the victim.


Police Prosecution Counsel, Oluwakemi Arowosaye, stated that the three defendants allegedly conspired to sexually abuse the young girl on the aforementioned date. The offenses are in violation of Section 35 (1) and punishable under Section 35 (2) of Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006, as well as Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.


If found guilty, Trinity Guy could face up to 15 years of imprisonment under the Child Rights Law, 2006.
