Strengthening Collaboration: LASTMA and Nigerian Army Join Forces for Better Traffic Management in Lagos

In response to recent viral videos depicting altercations between soldiers and officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), steps have been taken to ensure such incidents do not recur.

During a recent visit to the LASTMA headquarters by officials of the 9 Brigade Command, Nigerian Army, led by Brigadier-General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the General Manager of LASTMA, conveyed that the relationship between the two agencies remains strong. Mr. Oreagba emphasized that the camaraderie between the Army and LASTMA would not be taken for granted, and both entities are committed to maintaining their collaborative efforts.

Mr. Oreagba reassured that the incident would not repeat itself due to continuous communication channels being upheld and new hotlines being explored for prompt issue resolution. This understanding comes as part of a broader agreement to enhance the partnership between LASTMA and the Nigerian Army in the realm of traffic management across Lagos.

Bridging divisions among security agencies is crucial, as noted by Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, the Commander of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army. He emphasized the importance of unified efforts among government agencies, including LASTMA, to combat negative elements and ensure the safety of traffic managers in the execution of their responsibilities.

This collaborative effort was also praised by other Army officials in attendance during the visit, including Major A.A Nasir, Major A. Sanusi, Major A.A Onwemene, Major A.K Ballo, and LT T.H Owoyemi. Additionally, key representatives from LASTMA, such as Mr. Peter Gbejemede, Mr. Apena Biliaminu, Mr. Adeoye James, Mr. Macaulay Modupe-Ore, CSP Ajibola Abayomi, and Adebayo Taofiq, expressed their commitment to the partnership.
