2 Women and boy killed during Abuja Clash

A tragic incident unfolded in Byazhin, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, claiming the lives of three individuals, including two women and a young boy. The turmoil erupted following a clash between local scavengers, known as Baban bola, and residents. The conflict escalated when a scavenger attempted to steal a woman's pot of soup, resulting in a violent confrontation. After being beaten, the scavenger returned with armed hoodlums, indiscriminately attacking residents and leading to the deaths of the woman and two others. Schools were closed as panic gripped the community. The FCT Police confirmed the incident and have arrested suspects for interrogation, restoring calm to the area.

Lagos State has a new Commissioner of Police, CP Ishola Olanrewaju Olawale, who has officially assumed his role as the 40th Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command. He succeeds CP Adegoke Fayoade, who was recently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and has taken up his new post at the AIG Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos. A devastating flood in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, led to the escape of over 200 inmates, including several Boko Haram commanders, after part of the prison wall collapsed. An official from the Nigerian Correctional Center, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the flood, caused by heavy rainfall, breached the perimeter of the Maiduguri New Prison on Tuesday. The flood not only allowed the inmates to escape but also left a portion of the facility damaged. “The rain was intense, causing severe flooding that damaged our prison’s wall. Among the escapees were some Boko Haram commanders along with over 200 other inmates,” the source explained.
