BREAKING NEWS: Federal Government Commences Expansion of Ota-Idiroko Highway

On Thursday, the Federal Government initiated the reconstruction and expansion of the Sango, Ota/Idiroko Expressway.

In preparation for the project, numerous buildings marked for demolition are being taken down along the 64-kilometre stretch of the deteriorating Ota-Idiroko Road.

A local resident informed our correspondent via WhatsApp that both landlords and tenants whose properties were slated for demolition felt powerless as the process began.

"This is currently happening at Oju-ore, Ota, towards the border. Many buildings from Oju-Ore to Owode-Atan, extending to the Idiroko border, are being demolished. The Federal Government has started the road expansion and reconstruction," the source shared with our correspondent.

Earlier in the week, the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) urged the Federal Government to urgently address the collapsed Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta expressway.

The students specifically called on the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, to expedite the implementation of the Federal Government’s promised intervention for the expressway's rehabilitation.

Kehinde Thomas, the National President of NAOSS, made this appeal in a statement released to journalists in the state on Monday.
